It can be hard to find nutritious, healthful, and tasty recipes for breakfast. We’re often in a rush out the door, to get to work, or to start our day, and breakfast is a challenge for most of us.
But, thanks to this mighty green smoothie, it doesn’t have to be difficult!
Since tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day, we thought it’d be fun to share a quick recipe for our favorite green drink - along with some ideas for how to get creative when you’re making your own.
Here’s to a healthy breakfast!
Green Smoothie Recipe
(makes 2 servings)
2 generous handfuls of spinach
1 cup of almond milk
½ cup of orange juice
1 cup frozen strawberries and bananas
Combine all ingredients in blender and pulse until thoroughly combined! Use a spoon to taste, then adjust ingredients as needed.
Of course, the beauty of a green smoothie is that the sky’s the limit when it comes to your combinations! The basic formula is as follows:
A few handfuls of a green + 1 ½ - 2 cups liquid + 1 cup fruit
From there, you can add in any extras you’d like, including honey, chia seeds, almonds, or cinnamon. You can play around with the combinations as much as you like until you land on something you love - and if you’re looking to make it a little less calorie-rich, swap the almond milk out for coconut water or even just plain ol’ water!
